Summer is here!

In case you didn't already know, Madison LOVES LOVES LOVES the water.  She also LOVES playing in the backyard, so can you imagine what she's like when she gets to do both? hahaha

This summer was exceptionally warm, so we had lots of fun playing out back and getting all wet! :)
See her goosebumps?  I asked her if she was cold...
"No momma, I play in water!"
A few weeks later I was watering my garden and Madison was trying to stick her hand under the hose... since she wasn't paying attention, she ending up falling in my garden and was covered in wet, muddy soil..... so we did what any parent would do... we hosed her off! hahaha
She didn't seem to mind much :)

 We are so lucky to have such a great backyard for Madison to play in.  She loves coming out and running around in the grass and we love watching her have so much fun!

2 months!

WHAT?  I'm 2 months old?!?!?
You've got to be kidding me!!!
 I LOVE her expressions and I LOVE those big eyes of hers!
These past two months have gone by in the blink of an eye.  In this past month her beautiful little personality has really emerged.  My nickname for Madison is "munchkin", but I call her little sister SMILEY Riley, because that's what she is - SMILEY!   She smiles all time {unless she's sleeping}, and she is such a laid back happy baby.
The funny thing is, Madison was a really happy baby too, she had such a happy disposition, but Riley is so different.  Her disposition is very laid back, relaxed and mellow {who thought you could be "mellow" at 2 months, but she is!}, but her expressions are HAPPY and SMILEY!  If you smile at her, she'll give the BIGGEST smile back {it's the instant cure for a bad day!}

She has the cutest little expressions...
here are a few from the past month

and of course, there are those EYES
aren't they mesmerizing?

 of course she still spends most of the day sleeping...
{That is when her big sister isn't bothering her!}

Do you remember from my 1 month post, I mentioned that she loves to fall asleep on me?  That I rock her to sleep on my legs?  Well here are a few pics of her passed out on mommy.
LOVE HER <3

I love that Riley is so different than Madison because it makes this whole experience new again.  Yes, I already know how to be a mom, but this is the first time I've been a mom to Riley, she has different wants and needs than Madison did.  She likes to be carried, comforted and fed differently than Madison did.  I can't wait to watch her grow up and see how her personality differs or becomes more similar to her big sister.

 2 MONTH CHECKUP
Here is the lowdown:  Her 2 month checkup went perfectly.  She got all her shots and did sooo well.  She cried a little bit, but once I cuddled her in my arms, she calmed right down.  The Dr. said that she's growing perfectly and is a healthy little baby!  She now weighs 12lbs 9oz and is 23in long {she weighs more than Madison did at this age}.  If you compare the two of them, Riley grew 3in and gained 4lbs 6oz where Madison grew 3in but only gained 3lbs 3oz.  kinda interesting huh?  Will Riley be bigger/taller than her BIG sister?  Only time will tell :)

Please move back to CA

If you read my last post, I mentioned that we had a VERY busy week, so now that all that's over, it's time to just RELAX...  luckily, my very best friend Becky {along with her hubby Dan and little cutie Reagan} was in town and staying with us for a few days, which was sooooo very exciting!

Reagan Elizabeth Ryan
Born 3/2/12
Their visit to CA/SD was so exciting becuase we were finally able to meet each others kids!  Last time we saw each other was in January, when we were both pregnant.  So this was the first time I got to meet Reagan and Becky got to meet Riley!  Since our future kids will definatly be BFF's {just like their mommies} we had to take lots of pics of them together!

Could our girls look any more different from each other?
{Just like their mommies}
Mini Angela and Mini Becky
 Riley's so excited, she's even dancing!
Normally when they are in town, we are NON-STOP, we go to D-Land,  the SD Zoo, Sea World, Del, In-N-Out, Old Town, etc... but since they were in CA for a week before coming down to SD, they got all the busyness out of their system! {thank goodness, because I don't know if I had it in me to have another couple of super busy days - haha}

After the Baptism, we went out to dinner to where else?  Old Town Cafe, I was NOT complaining about that!! I LOVE that place and we hadn't been there since Mother's Day {almost a month ago!}.
The next day we just hung out at the house, took lots of pics of all the kiddos and then walked up to get Sushi and Yogurt!

 Naked Baby Club!

as Madison says
"baby kisses"
us moms with our sleeping girls
We soon realized that all the pics we'd been taking were of us or of the girls, but none of us AND the girls... so we fixed that!
 Madison joined in!
I know it will NEVER happen, but if Becky and Dan moved to CA it would make us sooooooo happy.  Every time I see her, I try to convince her to move back, sometimes I think I've got Dan convinced... but never Becky.  I love visiting them and I love when they visit.  I can't wait to see them again {hopefully sooner than later} and I can't wait to watch our little girls grow up and become friends.

Riley's Baptism

I think this past week was the busiest week we've had all year!
RECAP
Saturday = Becky & Dan fly to CA (woo hoo!!)
Sunday = Father's Day
Wednesday = Leave for Pismo
Saturday afternoon = Get home from Pismo
Saturday evening = Becky & Dan arrive at our house
Sunday = Riley's Baptism

Whew... I'm glad this week is over!  We had such a fun time at ALL the events, but it sure was tiring (and seeing that I have 2 kids under 2, I'm already tired - all the time - haha)!  So onto the big event - Riley's Baptism.

It was such a special day, filled with family, friends, love and of course God.  We chose our great friends Becky & Jared as her Godparents and since Becky (and her family) were already in town on vacation, we scheduled the baptism the same weekend, so that she could attend (since she lives in IL).  We were so happy that all our family was able to be here to celebrate this wonderful and blessed occasion.

We took some pictures of Riley and her Godparents before heading to the church
As parents, we felt so proud to introduce Riley to our church and welcome her into God's community.  Our church held a beautiful service that was completely centered around Riley's Baptism.
The godparents and grandparents were also asked to join us in the front of church
The blessing
Our church makes the Baptism feel so special.  We are presented with flowers, a certificate of Baptism and a hand quilted blanket for Riley.
Riley was such a perfect little angel that whole morning.  She was awake and alert during the whole baptism and then she slept during the rest of the service.
After the service was over, it was time for more pictures (Come on, are you surprised?  You can never have too many pictures! haha)

Of course I had to include a pic of this adorable little family! {In case you didn't know} Becky had a daughter {Reagan Elizabeth Ryan} who was born almost 2 months before Riley, and we were all VERY excited to meet her!
We left the church and headed back to the house to eat, drink, play and celebrate this wonderful day.

 Auntie Cami made and decorated the cake
{ it came out so cute! }
I'm so upset that I didn't take a picture of Madison & Riley together... not sure if you can tell, but they are wearing matching dresses {sort of}.  They are the same dress and design, just different colors.
Riley is such a lucky little girl, she has the most loving godparents and family in the world.  She was surrounded by so much love today -- that love brings a smile to my face and joy in my heart!
