from snow to SUN

It was Sunday morning and when I woke up there was snow on the ground...
but by late afternoon, I was sitting in the grass watching my daughter play in the warm San Diego weather... gotta love it!

After a VERY quick trip to Chicago, we spent the remainder of our weekend down at Mission Bay with Grandma Nancy and Grandpa Dennis.  Madison loves the park - slides, grass, birds to chase - all such fun things!

going down the slide backward is WAY more fun!
 love my hubby!
 time to explore with Grandpa!
 she is the best!
"Wait everyone, I just remembered something..."
"that I'm ADORABLE!"
Another wonderful day spent enjoying this beautiful city!

Surprise!

This past weekend I surprised my best friend Becky by flying to Chicago to attend her baby shower.  She didn't think I was coming since it was so far and I was pregnant myself, but 2 days before the shower, I found EXTREMELY cheap tickets and Deven convinced me that I had to go and surprise her - so I did!  Her parents were sooo sweet and picked me up from the airport AND let me stay at thier house so that we could keep it a surprise from Becky & Dan.

It was such a short trip, I landed at 9:30pm on Friday and flew out at 8am on Sunday, but it was enough time to see my friend, her belly (her hubby) and create some wonderful memories!

I want to remind you that it was 80° when I left SD and when I arrived, it looked like this:
 30° and snowing!!

It was mid-morning before Becky & Dan got there, but when they did Becky showed us "the UGLY cry"
I know that she looks really upset, but I SWEAR, those are tears of JOY
(at least that's what she told me - haha)
could we be more opposite looking - haha?

Once all the hugs, tears and stories were shared, we settled down and got ready for the shower!
 The happy parents-to-be

 Time for cake!

Becky, you are my best friend and a beautiful, fantastic, loving and caring person.  I was so happy to be able to share in your special day! Your little girl is going to be so lucky to have you for a mom - you'll be amazing!  I can't wait to see what she looks like and I can't wait until this summer when I'll get to meet her!

Week 27 (round 2)

Well we are officially in the 3rd trimester!! It's so strange to think that in less than 3 months we are going to have our little girl here in our arms.  Things are starting to get a little more difficult - like bending over and picking up my 25lb munchkin or her toys a billion times a day (okay, I know it's not a billion, but it's a lot)
27 weeks 4 days
How our baby's growing:
This week, our baby weighs almost 2 pounds (like a head of cauliflower) and is about 14 1/2 inches long with her legs extended. She's sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing her eyes, and perhaps even sucking her fingers. With more brain tissue developing, our baby's brain is very active now. While her lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning — with a lot of medical help — if she were to be born now. Chalk up any tiny rhythmic movements you may be feeling to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on. Each episode usually lasts only a few moments, and they don't bother her, so just relax and enjoy the tickle.

GOOD NEWS!  I heard back from my Dr. and I don't have gestational diabetes (which is always a relief) ALSO they tested me for cholestasis of pregnancy again (which is the reason I had to get induced with Madison - see here) and currently I don't have it - WOO HOO!  Now, there is no guarantee that I still won't get it (some reports say that there is a 90% chance of getting in again, if you already had it.  Plus last time I didn't get it until the last 6 weeks or so), but hopefully I'm in the clear...

Happy Birthday Jax!  Today was Jax's 1st birthday party and I can't believe how big he's gotten!  Last time was saw him was back in Sept and he was so little and now he's practically walking!  The party was fun since there were so many little kids there - Madison had fun playing with everyone.
The birthday boy!

Week 26 (round 2)

26 weeks 3 days
How our baby's growing:
The network of nerves in our baby's ears is better developed and more sensitive than before.  She may now be able to hear both my voice and Deven's as we chat with each other.  She's inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is essential for the development of her lungs.  These so-called breathing movements are also good practice for when she's born and takes that first gulp of air.  And she's continuing to put on baby fat.  She now weighs about a pound and two-thirds and measures 14 inches (an English Hothouse cucumber) from head to heel.

dress up time!

As I've mentioned in the past, my daughter is a HAM!  She loves to look at herself in the mirror and she loves dressing up!  Once she puts on her outfit, she runs to the mirror and stares at herself just saying "ohhhh" - I absoluetely love it!

Here are a couple of my favorite dress up moments!
I don't even know what to say - haha
 enough pictures please...
 alright, ONE MORE POSE!

My little Hawaiian Winter Princess!
Mama's little helper!
I think these are my absolute favorites!
She got a trunk of dress up clothes from her Nina for xmas and this is what she put on!
She's ready for her singing debut!

Week 25 (round 2)

Well I'm almost into my 3rd trimester!  I can't believe how fast it's gone by.  It sometimes feels like I was just pregnant with Madison, so it's hard to believe that in a little over 3 months, I'm going to have TWO little girls... WOW time flies!
25weeks 3 days
How our baby's growing:
Head to heels, our baby now measures about 13 1/2 inches.  Her weight - a pound and a half - isn't much more than an average rutabaga, but she's beginning to exchange her long, lean look for some baby fat.  As she does, her wrinkled skin will begin to smooth out and she'll start to look more and more like a newborn.  She's also growing more hair - and if you could see it, you'd now be able to discern its color and texture.
