Sugarland Concert

Those of you who don't know... I love listening to Country Music (I've even got Deven liking it too) and one of my FAVORITE country bands is SUGARLAND!

A few years ago (Oct of 2006 to be exact) we had tickets to see them, since it was the 1st year they toured, but we couldn't go becuase we already had plans (you know, something called our honeymoon... I guess that's more important that some concert - haha).  Anyhow, we haven't been able to see them since and this was the 1st time they've been back to SD in 2 years, so FINALLY we got tickets!  WOO HOO!!!!
the concert begins!

we have a pic like this from every concert we go to - haha

We had sooo much fun at this concert, but it seemed to go by way too fast!  I can't wait until they come back to San Diego!!

Happy Birthday Dennis!

This past weekend we celebrated with Dennis for the big 65!  We visited on the deck, ate some food and had this delicious ice cream cake (made by Nancy).

Pennsylvania!

First I have to apologize for taking so long to update the blog.  I took over 1000 pics on our trip and it was sooo hard to figure out which to post.  On top of that, my computer cord crapped out on me and I was too lazy to get a new one, so I couldn't turn on my laptop (which of course has all the pics loaded on them).  Luckily the cord started working again and I am finally getting around to blogging!

So again, very sorry that I'm a slacker... there are 7 separate posts - so make sure to check them all out!

Well as you can imagine we were all very excited to go to Pennsylvania!  My Aunt Karen and Uncle Ed live in a town called Slippery Rock, which is about an hour outside of downtown Pittsburgh, PA.  They just finished building their dream home - a beautiful log cabin - and we couldn't wait to see it!  They live on about 15 acres, so they are a little secluded from things, but that was exactly what we were looking forward to!

This trip was filled with family, laughter, hiking, fishing, fireworks, bonfires, relaxing, target practice, lots of food and loads of fun!!  I hope you all enjoy the pics :)

Our trip started out VERY early - 5am!
Madison wasn't a fan - haha
she loved looking out the window :)
Yeah! We finally landed!
Madison did soooo good on her very first plane ride  We had two 3hr flights and she slept for about and hour on each flight, which made things much easier!  When she was awake, she was such a good girl, she played with her toys, read her books with Nana and looked out the window with her daddy.  We left for the airport at 5am and didn't get into PA until 5pm, which was actually 8pm our time... we were exhausted!!!

The rest of these pics are an asortment of photos from our trip.  We spent a lot of time in the pool and at the pool house just having fun and relaxing!

We did so many things while in PA, that I've decided to separate the posts by events - hope you enjoy :)

Hiking, Fishing, Guns and Fire

Even though this was a family vacation, us girls didn't really get to see the boys much, why you ask?
Because they were fishing!!!
To be honest, my Uncle Ed was a little concerned about going fishing with some guy from So Cal. He told me that he worried about having to show/teach him how to "really" fish.  Well, after the 1st afternoon of fishing together, my uncle said to me,

"I think I found someone who likes to fish as much as me AND he actually knows what he's doing - he's pretty good!" haha

The 1st fishing day was at their neighbors house, they have a bass pond right on their property.  Deven told me that it was the coolest thing, since it felt like he was fishing in the swamps of Louisiana (not that he's ever been to "the swamps" before - lol)

BASS POND

They also went down to the creek, however back east you would pronounce it "crik", yes, like I have a crik in my neck... haha.

THE CRIK
"Supposedly" this is was a catfish that they caught....
no picture, no proof :)
When they weren't fishing they were shooting guns. Ed showed Deven how to shot a variety of gun and yes, I even participated.  It was a little intimidating, but also fun.

TARGET PRACTICE - day 1
If you look closely, you can see the gold shell casing flying out of the gun - pretty cool!

TARGET PRACTICE - day 2

The part that I really enjoyed, was going hiking.  It's amazing how beautiful nature is.  I think the boys were getting a little annoyed becuase every time they turned around I was WAY behind them... what did they expect, I had to stop to take pictures! :)

HELL'S HOLLOW - Hiking

(right after taking this picture I slipped on a rock and almost broke my camera - I was then reminded the rest of the trip about what a klutz I am!)
Lastly, after a long day of fishing, shooting, hiking, shopping, eating, etc we ended most of the nights around the bonfire!  We reminisced, we drank beer, we laughed and of course, we lit things on fire!! :)
