Roadtrip + Camping + Dunes = Fun Pismo Trip

Did we really take a 6hr roadtrip with a newborn? YES
Did we really go camping with two kids under two? YES
Did we have a blast? YES
Will we go again next year? YES!!!

We were so excited to finally go on the Mancha's annual camping trip to Pismo!  It was the first family trip we took with Riley, so it was definitely an adventure.  We loaded up the car, strapped in the kids, made sure the DVD player was prepped for Madison and we headed out!

Krystle and Sam also came along, so we were able to stay in Sam's camper
We lucked out, we were in the campsite right next to my dad's.  We spent most of the time over there, since they had the prime spot... next to the playground!  We had so much fun visiting with everyone, plus Madison and Riley LOVED hanging out with their cousins. Gracie and Luke were wonderful with both girls.  When we got there, Luke said to me,
"Um, I know that they are my cousins,
but they are really like my sisters"
haha, so cute! It was really nice having so many people there to help, there was always 2+ people watching the kids at any given time.

Madison helped Papa open his Father's Day gifts

Madison wanted to go riding with daddy, so she got all suited up! (this is actually Luke's outfit)

If you've ever been camping you know that dinner time doesn't usually start until after 8pm (once the sun goes down), so by the time we cooked dinner, ate and cleaned up, it was pretty late... Madison was definitely wiped out!  She passed out on Grammy's lap while we were all sitting around the fire.
Since I had to stay with the kids most of the time, I wasn't able to go riding very much (all the boys and Krystle went every day).  Finally the whole group headed down to the dunes, so that we could all take turns riding while the others watched the kids.
Since it was really windy, we set all the cars up to try and shield us (and the kids) from the wind
We kept Riley all snuggled up in the car

After Deven and I went riding for a bit, I came back to tend to little Riley while Misty took a turn.
Gracie was all geared up and ready to go riding.
 she looks like a pro!

Once everyone was done riding, it was time to just hang out and enjoy the view for a bit
(so I took a few pictures)

Madison was sooo excited to see her daddy, she ran into his arms

The afternoon was so much fun, except for the very end... when we got stuck in the sand... yes we got stuck.  Sam had to tow us a bit before the wheels got unstuck.  Then we were finally off, just kidding, we got stuck AGAIN (yes, a second time), so Sam had to tow us again!   This time we were really off, okay, just kidding again, Deven thought he left the keys (to the Razr) in the sand, so we turned around to look (trying not to get stuck in the process).  Oh wait!  Deven had the keys attached to his belt the whole time... geez......... we were finally finally off... for real this time!

The last day we were there, the boys (and Krystle) went riding and the girls (and Luke) went to the beach.  We all walked down to the boardwalk, had lunch and bought some souvenirs; then it was off the the beach.  Madison splashed and played in the water and tried to build some sand castles with Gracie.
Of course Riley was were she usually was... strapped to my chest.  So us girls took a little walk around in the sand.
After everyone got back (from the beach and the dunes) it was time for the last dinner of the trip.  We had a big potluck, a little bit of everything.  After dinner we sat around the fire, made some s'mores, told some stories and just enjoyed our last night of vacation.

She looked So Darn Cute!
 Riley was all snuggled up
Madison shared her love with everyone (as usual)

We left the next morning and we were sad to be going home.  We had such a fun time, we got to spend some great quality time with our kids, family and friends and we only wish we could have stayed longer. The Mancha's have been doing this Pismo trip for about 6 years and we were so happy to join them... we'll be back again next year!!
